Safety First People; No One Wants to Lose an Eye
Safety, safety, safety…first and foremost, safety is our top priority. We have a comprehensive set of safety protocols that take place on every one of our tours. These include daily health checks, thorough sanitization of our buses and ensuring that we work with the best partners in each destination.
With travel restrictions slowly being lifted, Discover Canada Tours is committed to ensuring that the safety of all our guests, in addition to the communities we visit, is our top priority. We have implemented several safety precautions on all our tours.
1. Tour Sizes
We are working with the provincial and federal governments to assess the number of passengers we will carry per tour. Be assured that we will follow every regulation laid out to ensure that you are being kept safe during the tour.
2. Pre-Departure Health Checks
Before departing on any tour, we will be taking several precautions before guests are allowed to board the bus. These include temperature checks and pre-screening questions.
We will be doing a contactless check-in process. Details of the exact check-in process will be given to you on the day of your departure.
3. On-Tour Precautions
We will be taking strict precautions during the tour. All guests will be required to wear cloth or non-surgical face masks for the tour duration while on the bus or when it is impossible to maintain the 2 metre distance as per the health order from British Columbia’s Public Health Officer. There will be ample hand sanitizer available on all our coaches. We encourage all our guests to regularly use this sanitizer, especially after boarding the bus after visiting an attraction. We will be sanitizing the coaches daily by wiping down all contact surfaces.
Every morning we will perform another health check to ensure there are no COVID symptoms. This is for the safety of you, your fellow travellers and our Road Rangers, Road Warriors and Tour Guides.
Suppose you or anyone in your group is experiencing symptoms. In that case, we will work directly with you to cancel or reschedule your tour.
4. Respecting and Supporting Host Communities
In addition to all our guests’ safety, the residents’ safety in the communities we visit is paramount. We expect all of our guests to adhere to the policies in each community we visit.
It is also of utmost importance for us to support the local business in the communities we visit. We ensure that we work with local suppliers to support them in all the destinations we visit to support them and grow their business. Help us to help other local businesses.
The local businesses that we recommend for you to visit have strict safety protocols in place themselves.
5. Rooming Precautions
We have also updated our rooming options. You will now be able to book up to five room types. All rooms require guests from the same household/social bubble. If you are a solo traveller, you have the option to book a single room or share with one other solo traveller of the same gender. You will be paired with this traveller for the duration of the tour.
6. Our Staff
Employees receive daily wellness checks as well as perform regular self-assessments to ensure they are healthy and symptom-free.
7. Activities and Inclusions
Due to the unprecedented times, certain activities or inclusions may be cancelled. We will attempt to substitute any cancelled experiences, but it will be based on supplier and provincial recommendations. Please contact us if you would like to know if certain activities are available on the departure day you wish to book. You can call us on +1(604) 689-8128 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All of our suppliers have their own safety protocols in place, and we can, at the time of booking, direct you to their documentation for peace of mind.
As we have said, the safety and wellbeing of our guests are paramount. We look forward to seeing you on one of our tours soon.
Travel with Confidence is our way of highlighting the safety processes that we are taking to keep all of our guests safe for the tour duration. Guest safety is our top priority, and we take all measures to ensure that we uphold the highest safety standards.
Our Book with Confidence policy gives you peace of mind when booking a tour with us. We have a flexible cancellation policy for you to take advantage of. You can see more on this cancellation policy here.
For our Summer 2021 tours, we are offering a $1 deposit with the remainder of the booking amount due 60 before your tour departs.
We have also implemented a flexible cancellation policy for all of our 2021 tours. While payment is due 60 days in advance, you can cancel your trip up to 30 days and receive either a 100% credit toward future travel with Discover Canada Tours or we will refund you 90% of your payment and issue a 10% travel credit that you can use for your next booking. Between 30-15 days, you can cancel your tour and we will provide a 100% travel credit, but the tour is non-refundable. Within the 14 days prior to your tour, the tour fee is non-refundable. This policy will change for 2022 and we will update the full Terms and Conditions with the 2022 policy.
We are also licensed to sell travel insurance, including Cancel For Any Reason, which we highly recommend all our guests to take out. You can speak with one of our agents for more details and the costs involved.
Discover Canada Tours is committed to following the latest provincial and federal recommendations and regulations around COVID-19. As new information becomes available, we will update this policy as applicable. Be sure to check in on this document periodically to see what safety measures we are taking.
Every single one of our tours is run under the most stringent safety measures, and so this policy applies to all tours. Our $1 deposit (the Loonie Deposit) is valid for all tours booked for Summer 2021, Winter 2021/22 and Summer 2022.
We do not require a COVID negative test to join our tours, but we will be screening guests daily to ensure that no symptoms are picked up. If there are symptoms, your guide will organize for you to get to the closest hospital to get tested.
Our premium tours are limited to 24 passengers per tour. For the Classic and Young & Young at Heart tours, we follow all the guidelines as laid out by the provincial government and governing bodies. If you would like more information about your tour sizes, please contact one of our agents, and they will be happy to assist you.
Our guests are from a wide variety of nationalities, cultures and languages. During this time, most guests will be travelling within their social bubble but there are also solo travellers that will be joining the tour. Solo travellers will be paired with other solo travellers to form a tour bubble. While we have always encouraged our guests to get to know each other, during this time we urge guests to do so safely.
The long and short answer is yes. By law, in enclosed spaces, individuals have to wear a mask. This includes during your travels on the coach. It is imperative that all guests follow these rules and those that don’t adhere to them will be asked to leave the tour immediately.
We will be performing a temperature check every morning while you are on tour. We will also provide hand sanitizer on the coaches in multiple places and it is a requirement to sanitize your hands before entering the coach after a stop. We also urge all guests to wash their hands at all stops for at least 20 seconds. The hotels and restaurants at all our stops are also adhering to the provincial rules around sanitization. On the coaches we will assign guests specific seats and will require that you sit in the same seat for the duration of the tour. You also have the option to book a paid seat in the first three rows to get the best viewing opportunities possible.
If you are presenting symptoms, you will not be allowed to join the tour. It is your responsibility to purchase travel insurance to cover you should this occur. Please contact one of our agents if you wish to get a travel insurance quote from us.
