Overview

This premium tour provides a unique and truly authentic Canadian experience. You will travel through three major mountain ranges, cross into two provinces and even experience a time zone change. This adventure is the ultimate way for you to experience the iconic Rocky Mountains. You will have overnight stays at the beautiful Sutton Place Hotel in Revelstoke, the newly renovated Mount Royal Hotel on Banff Avenue and the Mike Wiegele Cabins in Blue River. In the shoulder season, Mike Wiegele Cabins is closed. During this season you will stay in the quaint town of Valemount. You will have the opportunity to experience Canada’s desert area, the Okanagan Valley. This region is renowned for its wine farms and fruit farms. You will travel through some of the most imposing and breathtaking mountain vistas and get to visit the legendary turquoise glacial lakes. This includes Lake Louise, the most photographed lake in the world. One of the highlights of the adventure is your stop at the Columbia Icefields, where you will have the opportunity to walk on a glacier for an additional fee. This experience makes you realize just how fragile our planet is. Finally, you will be stopping at Othello Tunnels. These tunnels were cut from the granite cliffs in 1914 by the Canadian Pacific Railway connecting the Kootenays to the Coast. A total of five tunnels were cut out as part of the Kettle Valley Railway grade. The engineering effort it took to build this route was impressive, especially considering the limited infrastructure of the time. You will have the opportunity to walk through the tunnels and cross the cascading Coquihalla River. This area is also rich in film history, with several blockbuster film scenes shot at Othello Tunnels. The transportation of this Premium Tour Large Group is a full-sized highway coach with a maximum group size of up to 54 passengers. We also offer a more intimate version of this tour in a deluxe 35 passenger executive coach. You can see the more intimate product here. All prices are quoted at double occupancy. Trip Itinerary

Please note: The Shoulder Season tours will stay in Valemount at the Best Western Plus instead of Mike Wiegele Cabins. Depending on weather Moraine Lake & canoeing may not be available.

This itinerary is subject to change due to unforeseen (weather) conditions. Departure times may vary by date, please see your confirmation email for exact departure times.

Day One - Vancouver to Blue River/Valemont
You will meet at Canada Place at 8:45 am for a departure time of 9:00 am. Please don’t be late as we will not be able to wait. As we leave Vancouver and travel through the Fraser Valley, you will be able to experience the beauty of this iconic valley and the coastal rainforests of the area. You will then go on the Coquihalla highway and pass before entering Canada’s desert area, the Okanagan Valley. You will stop at Spahats Falls in Clearwater. This waterfall is an idyllic venue for a photo opportunity. The cut in the mountain that the water has created over millennia is the funnel point for this gushing waterfall as it cascades down into the bowl below. You will then be on your way to Mike Wiegele Heli-Skiing Resort. There is the option to canoe around the lake in the evening or take a refreshing swim. We will end the day with a campfire where you will learn the Canadian art of making s’mores. This activity is based on weather and fire conditions in the area. In the shoulder seasons, due to Mike Weigele closing, you will be staying in the quaint town of Valemount where there are several evening dinner and drink options.
Day Two - Blue River/Valemont to Banff via Jasper National Park
Day two begins with a continental breakfast at your hotel before we head towards the Rockies. You will get the opportunity to stop at Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, topping out at an altitude of 3,954m. On a clear day, this is one of the more impressive sights of the tour. That being said, even if there is some cloud around, it makes that photograph all the more mysterious. As you cross into Alberta, you will then carry onto the town of Jasper, where you will stop for lunch. The second part of the day is possibly the highlight of the tour. You will travel down the Icefields Parkway with some of the most beautiful landscapes of the Rocky Mountains. Towards the end of the Parkway, we will come to the Columbia Icefields and the famous Athabasca Glacier. For an additional fee, you can choose to join the Ice Explorer and have the opportunity to walk on the glacier. We highly recommend this. You will be able to see just how fragile our planet is when you are up there. Upon leaving the Icefields, you will have a stop at Bow Lake, the first of many glacial lakes in the region. You will then carry onto the stunning Town of Banff, deep in the heart of the Rockies. You will be centrally located in Banff. This evening you will enjoy a group dinner and get to know your fellow adventurers a little better.
Day Three - Banff
Today you will spend in and around the Town of Banff. While there are a few scheduled items on the itinerary, you will have most of the afternoon to do your own exploring. You will leave the hotel and head up the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain, where you will take in the magnificent views of the Rockies while enjoying your breakfast buffet. There will be time to walk between the peaks and get panoramic views of Banff and the surrounding mountains of the Rockies. This location is an experience that you will not forget. You will realize just how small we are compared to the nature around us. Upon coming down from the Gondola, we will take a scenic drive Lake Minnewanka & Two Jack Lake Loop and enjoy a tour of Banff townsite, including Bow Falls, HooDoos, Banff Springs Hotel. Following this, you will have the rest of the day and the evening to yourself. Explore the town a little more, or you can participate in an exciting outdoor activity for a discounted price such as horseback riding, whitewater rafting, canoeing (bow river float), hiking, caving, hot springs, fishing (early booking essential) and much more! You will then have the evening to explore the delights of the cuisine in Banff with many after-dinner bars to visit.
Day Four - Banff to Revelstoke
Again, you will start your day with a continental breakfast at your hotel before checking out and boarding the bus. Today is the last leg of the trip as we head back to Vancouver. Our first stop will be at Craigellachie and the Last Spike. This is the historic landmark of the Canadian Pacific Railway, where the east and west lines joined. You will then travel back into the Okanagan Valley with a stop in downtown Kelowna for lunch. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to visit a local cidery and winery for some tastings. You will finish up the last stop of the adventure with a stop at Othello Tunnels. You will return to Vancouver at approximately 7:30 pm.

Reviews

Our tour guide Matt made the 5 days we spend in British Columbia and Alberta absolutely unforgettable. He went above and beyond for every single person on the tour, offering a custom experience for every type of tourist. He is very well informed on just about every topic that came up and through many years of experience was able to show us some very special places that weren't on the conventional Canadian tourist radar. But most importantly he was just a really nice, welcoming guy. There is no doubt this experience will have us both coming back to Canada many times to come. Jack and Jessie.

Janel was extremely knowledgeable about the environment and geography of the area that we travelled through. He made it interesting and we got much more than a scenic tour. He handled any complications in a very professional and calm manner. His sense of humor was also appreciated. The whole trip was a delightful experience and I would recommend it to other people. Joe, the driver, also contributed information and obviously had a great appreciation of the area. Both men worked well together to enhance the experience of all on the trip.
