Overview

The Canadian Rocky Mountains; nothing is more iconic of our great country than these mountains. The Classic Plus Tour is an upgrade of one of the original and most popular tours that Discover Canada Tours began with. You will have overnight stays at the Three Valley Chateau which is 20 minutes outside of Revelstoke, the Town of Banff, and Valemount. These three towns epitomize the landscapes and cultures of three distinct areas of Western Canada.

The Classic Plus Tour includes amazing sightseeing stops in the Okanagan Valley, the grandeur of the Selkirk Mountains and the imposing peaks of the Rocky Mountains. You will also have the chance to visit the gorgeous turquoise glacial lakes of the Rockies, including one of the most photographed lakes in the world, Lake Louise.

You can choose to take a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain in Banff. At the top, you will be treated to 360-degree panoramas of the Rocky Mountains and a fantastic view over the Town of Banff and the gorgeous turquoise Bow River.

The primary difference between the Classic and Classic Plus Tours is that on this adventure, you will have upgraded accommodation and have better meal options. Trust us when we say, this is the quintessential adventure that every traveller to Canada should make. All prices are quoted at quad occupancy. There are concessions for double and triple rooms and a supplement if you wish to upgrade to a single room.

Trip Itinerary

Day One: Vancouver to the Three Valley Gap
It’s an early start this morning. You will need to arrive at Canada Place at 7:00 am for a 7:15 am departure. Please don’t be late as we will not wait for you to arrive. As you leave Metro Vancouver and travel through the Fraser Valley, you will be greeted with some of the most beautiful sights of our coastal rainforest. The area is steeped in history; the history of Simon Fraser, the famous annual salmon runs up the Fraser River and the importance of the river and valley to the logging industry. You will then cross from the coastal mountain range into the Okanagan Valley, Canada’s desert region, famous for its wine and fruit farms. You will stop for lunch in downtown Kelowna, an authentic interior British Columbia town. You will then travel onto your accommodation for the night at 3 Valley Gap Lakeside Resort. There will be free time at the lake before joining your guide for a tour of the Ghost Town. This Ghost Town is not haunted, but rather the relic of an entire community that came to British Columbia for the Gold Fever. This Fever was short-lived, and whole towns were deserted almost overnight. The Ghost Town of 3 Valley Gap has been meticulously kept, and there are over 25 historical buildings in the town. The combination of a large modern resort with a historic town allows visitors to step back in history to relive the colourful pioneer days of the late 1800s.
Day Two: Three Valley Gap to Banff
After enjoying a continental breakfast at your hotel, you will depart Three Valley Gap and begin the journey to Banff as a final destination of the day. But there is so much to see on the way, you will be blown away. Today is the lake day. Before reaching the first lake, you will travel through the historic Roger’s Pass. From here you will move onto Lake Louise, one of the most famous lakes in the world. And it’s fame is well deserved. The sight of the turquoise lake, complete with a backdrop of a glacier between the valley, is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. You will then travel onto either Emerald Lake or Lake Moraine, depending on the weather conditions. Here you will be able to rent a canoe and see parts of the lake that are inaccessible by foot. Once you have the blues and greens in your system, you will be whisked off to the famous Town of Banff, deep in the heart of the Rockies. You will enjoy a sightseeing tour in the town of Banff – among the highlights are visits to Banff Ave, Bow Falls and Banff Springs Hotel, a site with many tales of ghosts, including the mystery of room 873. You will check into your hotel on Banff Avenue & enjoy free time for dinner and shopping or you can go to the Banff Hot Springs! You also have the option of going up Sulphur Mountain on the Banff Gondola this evening and see the stunning valley surrounding the town in a glow of golden light. This is something that we highly recommend.
Day Three: Banff to Valemount
After enjoying a continental breakfast at your hotel, you will depart Banff and head up the world-renowned Icefields Parkway. You will stop at your final glacial lake of the tour, Bow Lake. Then one of the highlights of the adventure awaits; the famous Ice Explorer Glacier Tour. Here you will have the chance to walk on the Athabasca Glacier. There is an additional cost for this activity, but you will leave with a fresh perspective on just how fragile our planet is. The adventure then carries onto the town of Jasper, a gem in the Rockies. There will be time to grab a coffee from some fantastic coffee shops and do a little shopping. Then it is time for dinner. This takes place at an authentic cowboy ranch. After dinner, there will be bonfires, and you will learn the art of making the perfect s’more, a Canadian classic. There will also be time for ranch games and even a spot of line dancing. After leaving the ranch, you will check into your deluxe hotel in Valemount for the evening.
Day Four: Valemount to Vancouver
So sad, it is the last breakfast of the adventure at your hotel. The first sightseeing stop of the day is at Spahats Falls in Clearwater. This waterfall is an idyllic venue for a photo opportunity. The cut in the mountain that the water has created over millennia is the funnel point for this gushing waterfall as it cascades down into the bowl below. Kamloops awaits after this for a lunch stop. This is another an authentic interior British Columbia town that has a wide variety of food options available. What better way to wash down your lunch with a bit of a wine tasting at the Monte Creek winery. You will return to Vancouver at approximately 7:30 pm.
Optional Extras
  • Glacier Adventure

Reviews

The tour was really great to see all the best parts of the rockies if you only have a short amount of time. Perfect amount of time spent in Banff, with plenty of free time to explore. The tour slightly changes though depending on the weather/season and as we went during the off peak season we missed out on some activities that were advertised on the website (e.g. Jasper, canoeing on emerald lake, the cowboy ranch experience). It would have been great if these changes were made clear on the website when booking so we knew exactly what we could expect and weren't disappointed. Other than that though I really enjoyed the tour.

I had an excellent time on this tour. The scenery was fantastic, our tour guides, Jude and Angie, were great, the amount of knowledge they had regarding everywhere we went and also about Canada in general was really quite extraordinary! It was delivered in such a way that you never felt bored and there was the right amount so that we were informed but it was not too much. The whole tour was very well organised – keeping 50+ people on track is no mean feat! The hotels overall were good and the coach was comfortable. Our driver Tammy, was also great – some of the roads looked pretty tricky but she never missed a beat and always cheerful!! There were only a couple of slightly negative points - one was the Ranch dinner - the portions were very small and the food was lukewarm at best. It also felt rather rushed. There was only one washroom for 50+ people. I would question whether they are geared up for groups of this size. Also the hotel on the last night only had external access up steps to the first floor which can be pretty tricky when trying to pull your luggage up after you. Also as it rained heavily that night and then was cold in the morning the steps down were icy and potentially dangerous. These are only two minor points on what was otherwise a very enjoyable trip. I came away with great memories and a lot more knowledge about Canada. Thank you for an excellent experience!!!
