We take groups of tourists & international students to the most desirable places in Western Canada, including, but not limited to, the Rocky Mountains, Whistler, Victoria, Tofino, as well as Seattle in the USA. A high percentage of our clients are international students from around the globe and they are here to improve their English and experience all of the wonders Canada has to offer. Our goal is to provide them with the greatest experiences during their time in Canada, and memories that will last a lifetime.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Efficiently maintain prepared tour schedule
  • Passionately deliver commentary and stories to passengers throughout the tour
  • Observe and follow all by-laws and rules of the road
  • Daily vehicle safety inspections and completion of driver & vehicle reports
  • Handle cash and sell activities & tickets

  • Report directly to Tour Guide Supervisor
  • Take photos and videos while on tour for marketing purposes

  • Available on weekends and holidays between May and September

JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

Reporting to the Directors, the Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for implementing Discover Canada Tours digital marketing plan. The primary responsibilities include coordinating the company’s online presence and increasing overall lead generation (travel requests, email subscribers, online bookings) through a variety of means, including creating and managing current and new digital marketing initiatives, managing our search engine and pay per click efforts, maintaining monthly reporting dashboard, and website management for it’s unique brands.  

 

 

Specific Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

 

  • In conjunction with the Directors, assist in constantly updating the organization’s marketing strategy
  • Develop, implement and oversee a comprehensive social media strategy
  • Create ad campaign strategies for Google Ads and Facebook/Instagram Ads
  • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies
  • Plan and execute all web, SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media, print and display advertising campaigns
  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns and social platforms
  • Day-to-day management of all social media channels including but not limited to Facebook, Oversee creative, clear & consistent message development in all divisions and to all markets
  • In conjunction with the graphic designers, develop all sales materials and marketing publications including, presentations, brochures, flyers, posters, etc. 
  • Work on cooperative advertising programs

JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Departures and Operations Assistant will be primarily responsible for ensuring that everything runs smoothly at Departures. 

 

Tour Departures: 

Ensure departures run smoothly by overseeing the departures and ensuring the signs, tour bags, etc. bringing everything needed to departures. Required to be at all departures on assigned work days to assist with crowd control, manage the bus departures, and drop off supplies / equipment as needed. 

It is very important to follow company protocol with departures procedures and that the guides are adhering to all policies (i.e. wearing company uniform, standing at the entrance of the bus to meet and check in all passengers) 

  • Fill Out Emergency On/Call sheet with any major issues
  • Deal with any potential clients in terms of answering questions and trying to sell them on our tours
  • Ensure advertisement boards are present at departures
  • You will be required to stay at departures for 30min after the bus departs to hand out flyers/brochures and facilitate any potential bookings

When there are North Shore departures you will be expected to go to Canada Place with the sign to assist with the departures and be available for any questions / bookings for 30min post departures

Sale Support:

Sales responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Assisting with inside sales through answering phone calls, emails, or walk-in clients, all while providing top level customer service
  • Completing and registering client bookings through the reservation system and handling payments
  • Leading assigned activities and events such as walking tours, after school activities, sporting events, BBQ’s, and other special events
  • Researching competitor’s products and services

 

Operations Support:

Operational responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Along with the assistance of the Operations team continuously establish consistent, organized and efficient systems, procedures & protocols for departures.

 

Assist the Operations teams in ensuring all spreadsheets pertaining to the logistics, tour scheduling and guide assignments are up to date and continuously checked.

 

  • Assist in maintaining the inventory list for all tour supplies, equipment, clothing etc. Ensuring that everything is returned in a timely manner and taking action for any missing items.
  • Assist with managing on tour/activity food inventory, doing supply shopping and vehicle packing
  • Helping with general office duties including answering the phone, making bookings, and anything else as required by the operations/sales team
  • Assist with maintaining inventory of all camping and ski equipment. Ensuring the necessary gear for tours is prepared in advance. 
  • Becoming familiar with daily operations team tasks and assist where needed
  • Assisting and facilitating client BBQ’s 
  • Packing / Organizing clothing and snowshoe rentals during the winter season

 

Tour Bags: Pre-Tour - Assisting with updating documented guidelines for tour bag preparation and performing quality checks, ensuring inventory for tickets, vouchers etc. Assist with tour bag preparation. Post tour - Ensure all items are returned (i.e. phone, credit card, etc) and contact guides for any missing items. Assist with delivering tour bags into office/depot/departure on an as-need basis. Pick up bags from the can as needed.

Post Tour Duties - Ensure there is someone to pick up the tour supplies after tours, ensure bags and all DCT equipment and documentation is returned in a timely manner and make sure post trip reports are completed.

Tour Guiding and Activities:

 

  • Opportunities to assist on leading certain tours and activities will be available.  These duties will fall under a tour guide contract should you qualify and choose to participate in them.

Job Description Overview: 

Reporting to the Senior Sales Manager, the Inside Sales & Customer Experience Representative will be responsible for activities associated with inside sales, satisfying customer needs before, during and after the sale of a tour, providing excellent customer service. The main objective of this role is to increase sales and ensure we have happy satisfied customers who will want to post positive reviews, book again, and refer our tours to others. 

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to inquiries from all lines of communications (phone, email, CRM platform, social media, OTAs, etc.) and convert inquiries to sales
  • Staying on top of all customer reviews and replying to reviews
  • Managing customer complaints

 

Inside Sales

  • First point of contact for incoming calls and responsible for responding to customer inquiries through a variety of channels including walk-ins, phone, email, CRM platform, social media, OTAs, etc
  • Respond to travel agent inquiries
  • Strive to convert all tour booking  inquiries and leads into sales
  • Direct other inquiries to the proper department or employee
  • Book clients using our reservation system and other booking systems
  • Become familiar with our current listings on OTAs, how each OTA functions, and assist in the loading of new tour information & updating tour information onto OTA systems
  • Assist with sales leads for FIT & custom group quotes and be the main point of contact
  • Assist the Sales Manager with the ongoing management of high-level accounts to ensure we are meeting service expectations, maximizing exposure & sales from them, and renegotiating annual contracts

 

Customer Experience 

  • Effectively resolve any customer concerns or complaints
  • Manage and respond to client reviews on all platforms including trip advisor, google, OTAs, etc. 
  • Follow-up with larger bookings to ensure they received all necessary confirmations 
  • Act as an intermediary between the customer and outside sales teams, ensuring that the customer is satisfied with the products or services that they have purchased and ensuring the outside sales team is communicating all of the correct information
  • Act as an intermediary between  the customer product teams, relaying feedback received directly from the client or through reviews. 
  • Stay in contact with customers (groups) to provide support while they are on tour and follow up post tour
  • Additional tasks as requested by the management

ROAD RANGER FAQs

Yes, you will need a license class allowing you to drive vehicles of a seating capacity of up to 24 passengers. A Class 4 or Class 2 license depending on the province.

No, you do not need to have it in order to get hired. We do offer Step on Guiding Positions.

If you are interested in becoming a Driver Guide you will need a perfect driving abstract and must obtain the license at least 1 month prior to the start of the season.

Yes. You need to have a valid first aid certification of a minimum of 20h including CPR.

Scheduling is done according to availability, trip type, guide’s abilities and logistical realities. Guides that are keen, can expect to work a full year. Seasonal Guides can expect roughly around 50-80 days.

Yes. Some overnight trips will include a light breakfast and potentially a dinner but this amount may differ from one tour to another.

No. Tour Guides will receive company credit cards prior to the start of the trip to cover all of the trip’s expenses.

No. Most of our Tours start from Vancouver. If the tour starts from out of the lower mainland, BC, then DCT will take care of transportation costs.
